
Every Muslims have to perform solat (pray) five times a day; subuh, zuhur, asar, maghrib and isyak. Muslims can pray at any place as long as it is clean from najis. Prayer mat is always used to ensure the cleanliness of the place.
The five obligatory solat are;
1. solat subuh - 2 rakaats
it starts from dawn and ends at sunrise.
2. solat zuhur - 4 rakaats
it starts from after the time the sun has reached the zenith (the highest point) until the shadow of an object becomes as long as itself.
3. solat asar - 4 rakaats
it starts immediately after the end of zuhur and ends at sunset.
4. solat maghrib - 3 rakaats
it starts immediately after sunset and ends when the red glow of the sun disappears from the horizon.
5. solat isyak - 4 rakaats
it starts when maghrib ends and ends when subuh starts.
